We investigate how immune-epithelial interactions drive the progression of metabolic liver disease towards liver cancer. With a focus on macrophage immunometabolism and epithelial plasticity, we combine human tissue analysis, spatial omics and human-derived experimental models to uncover mechanisms of disease progression.

Vision

Our vision is to understand why chronic liver injury resolves in some settings but progresses towards fibrosis and cancer in others. By uncovering how immune and epithelial cells adapt, interact and influence one another, we aim to identify the mechanisms that shape these divergent disease trajectories.
